The IT Engineer IV will support MoneyGram's customers, stakeholders, partners, staff and overall business strategy through the servicing and management of its technological resources. The incumbent will lead and manage projects, participate in vendor management, create/maintain documentation, and create standards and documentation. Performs Technology Lifecycle management duties, presenting proposals/solutions to management through executive layers, and participate in the budget process along with management. The incumbent will work with other engineers to design and build environments to proper standards with associated documentation and processes, while also serving as a level of escalation by assisting Operations team(s) who support the environments. The incumbent will also provide mentorship and leadership to junior members of the engineering team.

Primary Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Create innovative solutions leveraging cloud platforms to solve business challenges.

  • Gather requirements, assess capabilities and analyze findings to provide appropriate cloud recommendations and adoption strategy.

  • Create conceptual, logical and physical design for cloud-based solutions for infrastructure and platforms.

  • Be well versed in AWS and/or Microsoft Azure, technology architecture, associated vendor products, and their interdependencies.

  • Provide appropriate cloud solution recommendations based on your definition and analysis of the technical requirements.

  • Learn and adopt new tools and techniques to increase performance, automation, and scalability.

  • Share the leading practices and cloud emerging technologies with internal team members.

  • Collaborate as part of larger teams which may include project managers, business analysts, architects, developers, and change management professionals.

    Requirements

  • Must have expert level experience Scripting in Terraform

  • Previous hands-on experience with the design, implementation, operation, and maintenance of AWS compute, security, logging, and monitoring

  • Deep product knowledge and understanding of product features in one or more major clouds platforms:

    • Microsoft Azure, AWS, Google Cloud

    • IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS Solutions

    • Virtualization

  • High Availability and Disaster Recovery principles, patterns and usage

  • Experience delivering Infrastructure as Code and automation/orchestration of OS and applications.

  • Automation experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, Resource Manager, Puppet, Chef, Ansible, etc.

  • Experience with cloud-based software development tools and methodologies (e.g. Git, CI/CD, Code Deploy, Code Pipeline, Build Automation and Testing, etc.)

  • Experience with container technologies (e.g. Kubernetes, Docker, Azure AKS, AWS EKS, etc.)

  • Experience supporting Production applications or workloads in a cloud-based environment

  • Performance analysis, troubleshooting and remediation techniques

  • Ability to code/script in administrative type language (e.g. Ruby, Python, PowerShell, Bash).

  • Experience with networking principles and technologies (DNS, Load Balancers, Reverse Proxies)

  • Strong analytical problem-solving ability

  • Strong presentation, written and verbal communication skills

  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently or as part of a project team

  • Experience in operating on-prem and cloud infrastructure and applications.

  • AWS: Certified Solutions Architect is a PLUS

    Environment experience

  • AWS | route53, VPN, shared VPC, transit gateway, EC2, S3, Beanstalk, Lambda, EFS, EBS, ACM, IAM, Multi AZ / Multi Region

  • GCP | cloudDNS, CloudRouter, VM, Storage, Big Query, Multi AZ / Multi Region

  • Kubernetes | create YAML code to deploy applications | Prometheus, Istio, EFK or ELK


Any combination of relevant education and experience and/or related professional designations/certifications in this field is highly desirable.


Education


  • Minimum Required: Bachelors' degree, preferred


Experience


  • 7-10 years' IT Operations and/or Engineering experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • 7-10 years' proven customer service experience, and must communicate clearly, courteously and professionally in person and over the phone.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and broad understanding of relationships between hardware and applications, and client/server relationships.
  • In-depth understanding of the criticality of existing environments when leading/managing projects, software and/or hardware as it relates to the business needs, customers, partners and staff.
